The holiday season doesn’t look rosy for staff at Avon’s Corby facility. Avon has announced 104 redundancies at its UK distribution center by the end of the year, according to a report published by the BBC.
The Northants facility is said to be staffed by some 240 full-time employees, meaning the cuts will affect almost half of the workforce there. Avon attributed the lay offs to new technologies.
“Avon is modernising its business to improve the service it provides to its customers and representatives. This will result in a more efficient operation and involved 24-hour working and new technology investment in its distribution center in Corby, with a new extension due to go live at the end of September,” a spokesperson for the direct sales giant told the BBC.
