Aesop to cut ribbon on first bricks and mortar presence in China

THE WHAT? Natura &Co’s Aesop brand is preparing to cut the ribbon on its inaugural Chinese store, according to a report published by Inside Retail Asia.

THE DETAILS The natural beauty brand has chosen Shanghai for its first bricks and mortar location in Mainland China, with the store design heavily influenced by the city’s diverse heritage. The opening has originally been slated for last year, but has been delayed due to lockdowns.

THE WHY? The Australian brand is already sold via China’s Tmall Global but is keen to expand its presence in the world’s second largest beauty market. Stablemate The Body Shop is also expected to relaunch in China later in 2022.
