Arvind to run Sephora’s Indian operations – 40 new stores planned by 2020

India’s Arvind Lifestyle Brands has signed a deal to run the Indian operations of French beauty retailer Sephora, according to a report published by the Times of India. The agreement covers both store and e-commerce rights for the country.

Arvind will manage Sephora’s three perfumeries in Dehli as well as an existing store in Pune, and aims to open another 40 stores within the next five years.

“We clearly want to accelerate our expansion plans in India. This partnership with Arvind is a long-term one for stores and e-commerce,” Sephora Global Chief Operating Officer Olivier Schaeffer said in an interview with the Times of India. “Sephora has built a network of around 200 stores in China in the past decade. India could be a similarly big market in the long term.”
