THE WHAT? AS Watson has announced that it will open up its Moneyback loyalty scheme to help other retailers promote their businesses.
THE DETAILS The Hong Kong-based retailer will not charge retailers for promoting their business via the scheme and the initiative will be open to businesses of all sizes.
The Group is also donating some 1.8 million WatsMask WeCare face masks to encourage shoppers to visit stores in person.
“The pandemic has hit every community hard in many aspects, and it is extremely challenging for retailers. A.S. Watson is deeply rooted in Hong Kong for 180 years, we have been through many crises of different nature with the community. We know difficult days will pass, hence should proactively plan ahead,” Malina Ngai, Group COO of A.S. Watson Group and CEO of A.S. Watson (Asia & Europe), said.

With its 3.7 million active member base, and a mobile app with 1.5 million downloads, we already have over 130 offline and online retail partners, covering over 1,000 retail outlets where our members can enjoy exclusive benefits.”
THE WHY? With several shoppers staying home, even once lockdowns have been lifted, bricks and mortar retail has been hit hard. The planned campaign is expected to encourage cross-retailer shopping in all 18 districts.
