THE WHAT? AS Watson Group and its 13 global retail and manufacturing brands have announced the launch of a refreshed Social Purpose as well as a 2030 Sustainability Vision.
THE DETAILS Each brand has its own social purpose initiative, and in addition, the group is celebrating its Smile Community initiative’s success in reaching a 1.8 million smile index by the spring equinox (March 20), 2021 and has pledged to organise 180 caring actions around the world to add meaning to its 180th anniversary celebrations.
The group’s sustainability mission, meanwhile, sets clear targets for 2030, including a 30 percent reduction in electricity intensity against a 2015 baseline, a 40 percent reduction in GHG emissions, and eliminating unnecessary packaging, avoiding over-packaging and phasing out PVC as well as meeting a threshold of 20 percent recycled plastic content in plastic packaging by 2025.
