Australian flexible packaging manufacturer Amcor expands foothold in China with new acquisition

Australian flexible packaging manufacturer Amcor has expanded its footprint in China with the acquisition of Southern China-based packaging firm, Zhongsan Tiancai Packaging Company.

The acquisition brings Amcor’s total number of manufacturing plants in China up to ten and will enable the company to grow its client base in the Asia Pacific region, supplying flexible and rigid plastic packaging to food, beverage, pharmaceutical, medical, home and personal care companies.

Amcor will employ 390 workers currently based at Zhongsan Tiancai Packaging Company, which specializes in printing and manufacturing multi-layer films for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical markets.

Ralf Wunderlich, President of Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific, commented, “The acquisition is a testament to our commitment to Amcor’s growth in China. As a market leader in flexibles packaging in China, it is also an opportunity for us to further build our innovation expertise and product offering for our customers.”

Amcor employs more than 7,000 people across 37 manufacturing plants in eight countries in the Asia Pacific region. Worldwide, Amcor employs 27,000 people and has operations across 43 countries.
