Aveda and Neal’s Yard celebrate as Ecovia Intelligence announces winners of Sustainable Beauty Awards

Ecovia Intelligence, formerly known as Organic Monitor, has announced the winners of its 2017 Sustainable Beauty Awards, which aim to recognise the operators who are pushing the boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry.

Estée Lauder-owned Aveda won the Sustainability Leadership gong, for its wide range of sustainability initiatives, from natural ingredient sourcing to waste management and corporate philanthropy. Taiwan-based Hair O’Right was named runner up.

Neal’s Yard Remedies triumphed in the Sustainable Ingredient category with its Frankincense Boswellia Sacra Resin Extract, and was also named runner-up to the Sustainability Pioneer title, which was awarded to Sweden’s AAK for its shea butter sourcing program. Finalists included Inolex, Merck, RonaCare and Biolie.

Finland’s Sulapac was victorious in the Sustainable Packaging category, with Hair O Right named runner up from finalists L’Oréal, O-PAC Eco-Pac and Biolage RAW.

Finally, Alteya Organics took the prize for Green Formulations thanks to its Rose Jasminium range. New Zealand’s Trilogy was named runner-up.
