THE WHAT? Avon is on a mission to expand its African footprint, according to a report published by CAJ News Africa, and will launch in Kenya this year.

THE DETAILS Avon has a strong presence in Southern and North Africa, CAJ News Africa reports, and, in terms of Sub-Saharan Africa, is available in Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Kenya is the biggest economy in the east African region and its economy is forecast to bounce back quickly this year, growing between 6 and 7 percent in 2021.

THE WHY? Angela Cretu, Avon Group CEO, told CAJ News, “Kenya has always been on our dream list, and like South Africa, we believe that it will serve as an important market and a gateway to other countries in the region such as Ethiopia and Rwanda. Kenya has a young population that is very tech savvy and a growing and aspirational middle class.”
