Avon UK has teamed up with charity CoppaFeel! to encourage consumers to make regular breast checks in order to enable early detection of breast cancer.
The new partnership aims to educate young women on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, with CoppaFeel! having just released data showing that only three quarters of women aged 18-29 will ever check their breasts, while only 30 percent of those women check on a regular basis. Most worryingly it shows that young women lack the confidence and knowledge of how to check themselves.
As part of the partnership, Avon will help support the recruitment of more ‘Boobettes’ – a team of young women who have either been diagnosed with breast cancer under the age of 35, have had a breast cancer scare at a young age or have a strong connection to the disease.
The ‘Boobettes’ are used to share knowledge and education from their own experiences, while the partnership will also encourage Avon Representatives to empower themselves and take action.
Andrea Slater, Avon General Manager, said: “We are proud to partner with CoppaFeel!;as well as raising vital funds for the inspirational charity, our main aim with this partnership is to drive real behaviour change among women to encourage them to start regularly checking. We’re pleased to see so many of our Representatives are doing so and want to encourage them to pass on the message to their customers, and ultimately help CoppaFeel! in their efforts to educate young people.”
