Beiersdorf and Nussbaum to launch first 100 percent recycled aluminum aerosol can

THE WHAT? Beiersdorf and Nussbaum are producing aerosol cans made entirely from recycled aluminum, which the duo plan to roll out to market by the end of 2021.

THE DETAILS The partnership further reduces the Nivea manufacturer’s carbon emissions and ecological footprint. The Hamburg-based skin care company is planning to make its product range gradually more sustainable by using post-consumer aluminum, among other initiatives.

THE WHY? Norbert Menzel, Principal for Packaging Technology, reveals, “With our pioneering partnership with Nussbaum, we are triggering a cross-industry rethink all along the value chain and are reducing our carbon footprint relating to aerosol cans by up to 90 percent.” Adds Andreas Fliss, Global Procurement Director Packaging & 3PM, “Long-term partnerships and close collaborations are essential to drive the development of environmentally friendly packaging solutions.”
