Beiersdorf snaps up Chantecaille

THE WHAT? Beiersdorf has announced that it has agreed to acquire prestige beauty brand Chantecaille. Terms of the deal were not disclosed although the US brand has been given an enterprise value of between US$590 million and US$690 million, depending on future development of the business.

THE DETAILS Chantecaille will be managed separately as a complementary selective brand to La Prairie. The transaction is subject to regulatory clearance and is expected to complete in the first quarter of the year.

THE WHY? Vincent Warnery, Chief Executive Officer of Beiersdorf, explains, “Through the acquisition of Chantecaille, we are bolstering our portfolio in prestige beauty and strengthening our position, especially in the United States, China and Korea, which is a priority of our C.A.R.E.+ strategy.
