THE WHAT? Beiersdorf has transitioned its European aerosol packaging to cans made from 100% post-consumer recycled aluminium in partnership with Ball Corporation.
THE DETAILS The move follows a pilot project launched in 2024 that was expanded across Europe in 2025. The shift applies to aerosol packaging used across Beiersdorf’s portfolio and is expected to significantly reduce emissions linked to aluminium packaging production.
The initiative was developed in collaboration with Ball Corporation, which highlighted the scalability of using fully recycled aluminium in large-scale packaging operations. Aluminium’s recyclability allows the material to be reused repeatedly without losing quality, supporting circular packaging models. Both companies noted the transition aligns with broader climate and sustainability targets.
THE WHY? The transition supports Beiersdorf’s sustainability strategy and its goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2045, while also contributing to Ball Corporation’s commitment to reduce absolute emissions by 55% by 2030.
