Beiersdorf Thailand starts construction of factory extension

Beiersdorf’s Thai division celebrated the kick off of an expansion program for its Bangplee production facility with a first stone ceremony.

The company is investing €50 million in the 10,000 square meter extension and the new manufacturing area, which is earmarked for the production of roll-on deodorants, is due to go live by summer 2019. The facility will gain a new lip care line by the second quarter of 2020 as the existing building is refurbished and modernized.

“With the expansion of our Thai plant, we are creating additional growth prospects and are further strengthening our position in the Asian economic region,” said Ralph Gusko, Member of the Executive Board, at the ceremony.

“With its flexible technological possibilities, this plant plays a strategically important role for the Asia Pacific region. Safety, quality and efficiency were just as much a priority in the planning of the new production  facilities as the subject of sustainability,” added Operations Director, Markus Daburger.

The ceremony, which took place on March 15, was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Bangplee plant. The new facility will be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) Gold Standard certified for environmental construction and boast solar panels capable of producing 500kWh.
