Beiersdorf to invest €170 million in new state-of-the-art European hub

THE WHAT? Beiersdorf is set to invest €170 million in a new state-of-the-art European hub, based in Leipzig in the vicinity of its new production plant.

THE DETAILS Beiersdorf is looking to acquire the neighboring plot of land to the new plant in the Leipzig-Seehausen II industrial estate, which covers around 12.5 hectares. Subject to approval from Leipzig City Council, it will be its biggest investment in a single location.

A further 400 jobs will be created in addition to the 200 positions at the new plant, with Beiersdorf aiming for CO2-neutral operations and relevant sustainability certification at the plant.

THE WHY? Harald Emberger, Corporate Senior Vice President Supply Chain, explains, “With the combination of production site and hub, Beiersdorf wants to position itself optimally for consumer habits and retail landscapes of the future and to create the conditions for state-of-the-art supply chain infrastructure in the heart of Europe.

“The interplay between production and hub offers unique development opportunities in this context to offer our customers completely new solutions. We would be delighted to be able to implement this project in the city of Leipzig, an attractive location with a skilled workforce and a good investment environment.”
