THE WHAT? The salon located in Bergdorf Goodman’s penthouse will shut its doors for the final time on July 3, according to a report published by WWD.
THE DETAILS The decision to shutter the 4,500 square foot Salon Yoshiko was mutual, WWD reports quoting a statement issued to the publication by the Manhattan department store. Bergdorf Goodman has no immediate plans for the space. Some 52 staff members will be affected by the closure.
THE WHY? WWD attributes the closure to the struggles encountered by professional beauty services during the pandemic. The reason cited for the closure in a ‘plant closing’ filing with the New York State Department of Labor was ‘economic’.
