Beauty fans have once more taken to social media to protest at the lack of shades available for women with darker skin tones.
An Instagram post by Sephora kick-started the objections, with an image showing the 16-shades of bareMinerals’ Complexion Rescue foundation spread across three arms of varying skin tones.
Users were quick to point out that the image only served to highlight how few shades catered to darker-skinned women, with one disgruntled poster commenting, “Why are there only like two shades for black people? Reevaluate your priorities, my friends,” and another stating, “this is why I #buyblack, because they don’t see us as an important factor when they create these products. Black women are an afterthought to most white owned cosmetic companies.”
Both the Shiseido-owned brand and LVMH-owned Sephora were contacted by The Daily Mail for comment.
