Boots Appoints Former John Lewis Executive Charlotte Lock as Customer and Marketing Director

THE WHAT? Boots UK has named Charlotte Lock, former John Lewis pan-partnership customer director, as customer and marketing director.

THE DETAILS Lock joins Boots after three years at John Lewis, where she led customer strategy across the retail partnership until mid-2025. Her earlier roles include director of data, loyalty, and digital products at Co-op and senior leadership positions at the BBC, where she worked on BBC Sport and BBC Sounds.

Her appointment follows the departure of chief marketing officer Pete Markey earlier this year, after more than four years with the business. Markey was credited with strengthening Boots’ loyalty programmes and leading high-profile seasonal campaigns. The hire also comes amid broader leadership changes, including the addition of former Asda executive Simon Gregg as chief retail, logistics, and pharmacy operations director in January.

THE WHY? Lock’s appointment signals Boots’ continued focus on enhancing customer engagement and loyalty as it advances its digital and retail transformation strategy under its evolving executive team.
