THE WHAT? Bottega Veneta is taking a step back from social, according to a report published by Bloomberg. The luxury leather goods brand has wiped its Weibo account, says Bloomberg, just a month after it disabled its Instagram feed.
THE DETAILS It’s thought to be unlikely that the brand will quit all social platforms – its WeChat account, for example, is believed to be safe from the cull.
THE WHY? The Kering-owned label is said to have made a decision to focus more on ambassador-led marketing and the move is thought to be designed to give the brand a more exclusive air as well as direct traffic to its own website, meaning it doesn’t have to share its customer data with the likes of Facebook.
