Chanel launches clean beauty line ahead of Lunar New Year

THE WHAT? Chanel has launched a new beauty line described as ‘a new generation of Beauty’. Dubbed No1 de Chanel, the collection spans the skin care, make-up and fragrance categories and is said to be holistic and environmentally conscious.

THE DETAILS Built around red camellia extract, chosen for its anti-aging properties, and produced in an open-sky laboratory in Gaujacq, the line has a strict formulation charter with up to 97 percent naturally derived ingredients.

Packaging has been designed with sustainability in mind, with a lid made from 90 percent bio-based materials and a lighter, recyclable-glass bottle, printed with organic ink. In addition, products are free from cellophane and leaflets are not included – instead products have been printed with a QR code linking digitally to further information.

THE WHY? Timed to coincide with Lunar New Year, and based on an ingredient traditionally found in Japan and Southern China, the line will no doubt prove popular on the booming Asian market and chimes with all the latest beauty trends with its wellness slant and eco-friendly credentials.
