Chanel is known for its selective approach to stockists so, when Mary Dillon, CEO of Ulta Beauty announced that the US retailer would be stocking the French designer’s make-up line as of 2018, the internet near on imploded.
Yes, according to Racked, Dillon revealed the news during Ulta’s 2017 fourth-quarter earnings call. Dillon did not elaborate on which products would be available or when; and was not forthcoming on whether the brand would join the retailer’s e-commerce offer.
“Finally, we’re thrilled to announce a prestigious addition for 2018 – Chanel Beauté. Following our long-standing partnership with Chanel offering their iconic fragrances in hundreds of our stores, we are honored to introduce Chanel Beauté in a small number of Ulta Beauty doors this year. This will be an edited assortment featuring a Chanel-branded makeup station with the first Chanel store opening in Westport, Connecticut, in just a few weeks,” she said.
The move is thought to be part of a wider push for Chanel Beauty in the US – the brand recently launched two new Instagram accounts supported by pop-up experiences in Los Angeles and Toronto.
