The majority of Chilean citizens are said to oppose animal testing for cosmetics, according to a new poll by Cadem Consultancy.
Carried out on behalf of the Humane Society International (HIS) and NGO Te Protejo, 86 percent of participants agreed that Chile should take steps to abolish animal testing for cosmetics within the country.
Supporting the HSI and Te Protejo’s #BeCrueltyFree campaign, the poll is hoped to help change current Chilean legislation, which currently allows testing on animals.
Camila Cortinez, General Director Te Protejo, said, “It is heartening to see that the people of Chile share our belief that animal testing for cosmetic products and ingredients is cruel, archaic, and should be outlawed. Our findings should serve as a wake-up call to our government and beauty industry that it’s time for Chile to #BeCrueltyFree.”
