China’s health care regulatory body has debuted its first public awareness week to open up conversations around cosmetics safety, according to a report published by CGTN.
“Over 37 percent of the consumer complaints concerning cosmetics are related to their safety,” Li Yuanguang, Vice Secretary General of China Consumers Association told CGTN.
The launch event, held on Monday, saw consumers, manufacturers and industry watchdogs meet to discuss safety concerns. The Chinese government debuted a new mobile app aimed at shoppers which enables them to check whether a beauty product is registered and approved.
