Colgate-Palmolive has appointed its current Chairman of Colgate Palmolive India, Mukul Deoras, to the role of Global Chief Marketing Officer.
The appointment is the latest in a series of promotions that has seen Indian employees of Colgate-Palmolive’s Asia operations gain top global roles at the American company.
Deoras will oversee a US$2bn advertising budget as he steps into his new role this month. Deoras will support Colgate-Palmolive in its strategy to focus more on emerging markets, where per capita usage of toothpaste is low, while making a transition towards more visibility in digital media.
Deoras joined Colgate in 2004 from Hindustan Unilever and has occupied several top positions in the company – Director (special projects) for Asia Pacific region, General Manager for Thailand Operations, Vice-President of Personal Care at Colgate Palmolive US, Managing Director of Indian operations and Chairman of Colgate Palmolive India.
Vinod Nambiar, who currently heads up Colgate Palmolive China, is now due to take on Deoras’ former role.
