Colgate-Palmolive has issued a statement warning Venezuelan consumers against purchasing counterfeit toothpaste products sold on the black market.
The company wrote to the health authorities regarding the potential risk of the ‘commercialization and use of these falsified products.’
The Venezuelan National Hygiene Institute subsequently issued a warning regarding the counterfeit toothpastes not containing fluoride, with the possibility of microbiological contamination said to pose a health risk.
Colgate-Palmolive stated consumers could recognize an authentic product as the instructions would be in Spanish while the tubes will show an official sanitary permit.
The counterfeit tubes are said to be being imported from countries such as China, Mexico and Thailand.
