THE WHAT? Coty has announced that its Bourjois make-up brand will no longer be sold in the UK, according to various reports.
THE DETAILS The brand will be discontinued in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
“We can confirm that following a strategic review of Coty’s Consumer Brands in the UK, we’ve made the difficult decision to exit Bourjois in this market,” the company said in a statement issued to Metro.
“This will allow us to focus to a far greater degree on our priority Consumer Beauty brands.
It will be in store and online in the UK for a limited time only from today – and will still be available in its birthplace, France and in over 50 markets worldwide.”
THE WHY? As part of its wider transformation plan, Coty is stepping away from its less profitable brands and focusing on those that can deliver growth. Is the US beauty behemoth clearing shelf space in anticipation of the launch of Kylie Cosmetics, we wonder?
