Croda puts sales and profit boost down to increased demand for anti-ageing skin care products

Yorkshire-based natural chemicals firm Croda International has reported record sales of new products, thanks in part to global demand for anti-wrinkle creams.

Strong innovation has contributed to a 20% year on year increase of new patented products, to a record 26% of group sales. This follows on from one of Croda’s key ingredients Matrixyl – used in Boots’ Protect & Perfect serum – recently winning the 25 Years of Innovation award which recognises products that have had the greatest impact on the personal care market in the last quarter-century.

The demand for anti-wrinkle creams isn’t limited to women, with Croda stating that one of the fastest growing markets for the products is men over 35.

Following on from its success the company is now moving into the hair care market with the launch of Apiscalp, a celery cell-based product designed to reduce itchiness and dandruff.
