Croda scoops Low Carbon Award at Chemical Industry Awards

British ingredients maker Croda has won the Low Carbon Award at the Chemical Industry Awards, recognised for its stretching carbon emission intensity reduction target.

The award looks at highlighting excellence at company, site and individual level, with Croda stating that the reduction target is underpinned by ‘their continuing investment in increasing energy efficiency and moving to more non-fossil energy sources across their operations.’

Terry Thistlethwaite, Vice President Sustainability at Croda said, “Sustainability is fundamental to our business strategy and we very proud to have our efforts acknowledged in this way. Our carbon reduction journey sees us continuing to invest in sustainable and innovative product design, which includes a focus on our manufacturing operations, and working with our supply chain to develop ingredients that deliver more benefit, with less environmental impact.”

Croda has committed to carbon reduction through increasing its proportion of energy from non-fossil-based fuels sources as well as projects that include solar panel installations at three of its global locations, onsite bio-gas generation in the Netherlands, a wind turbine at its Hull site and heat and power from landfill gas in North America.
