THE WHAT? Croda has submitted plans to install a £7.5 million biomass boiler at its Hull-based plant, according to a report published by the Yorkshire Post.
THE DETAILS The specialty chemicals manufacturer claims that the installation is critical to maintaining its competitive edge and will be a significant step towards meeting its goal to become carbon neutral.
THE WHY? The site is currently the third highest emitter globally of Stage 1 carbon emissions within the wider Croda business, the Yorkshire Post reports. Without action, the plant would face not only higher overheads but also be at a disadvantage in terms of marketing.
