Cruelty Free International is calling on cosmetics industry players and regulatory bodies to bring an end to animal testing for beauty products by 2021.
Speaking at a meeting of the International Cooperation on Cosmetics Regulation in Brazil last week, the pressure group advised on alternative testing methods and urged regulatory bodies to establish a deadline for a global phase-out of the practice.
“We are delighted to have had the opportunity to speak to ICCR members and offer the benefits of our expertise. With roughly half of the global cosmetics market now firmly closed to animal tested cosmetics, more than ever, the time is right to end animal testing for cosmetics everywhere and forever. There is absolutely no reason for animal testing for cosmetics to continue – or to potentially be allowed to continue – anywhere anymore. It’s time to end it for animals, consumers and industry,” said Monica Engebreston, North American Campaign Manager and representative of Cruelty Free International at the ICCR meeting.
