Deep fried: First came nail polish, now KFC moves into sunscreen

While the scent of sunscreen has long been associated with edible delights of coconut, pineapple and other tropical fruits, fried chicken is perhaps an unusual choice. But KFC is not to be deterred from its quest to conquer the cosmetics sphere.

The fast food emporium has launched a sun cream that will coat each user’s body with the scent of the fried chicken restaurant’s notorious dish.

Some 3,000 bottles of KFC’s limited edition Extra Crispy Sunscreen were distributed for free via a dedicated micro-site. “We’ve had a lot of fun with our Extra Crispy Colonel campaign this summer and the sunscreen idea seemed like a natural fit,” said the company in a statement to Fortune.
