THE WHAT? Dior has launched a virtual beauty boutique, according to a report published by WWD. The online store is modelled on the brand’s Champs Elysees location.
THE DETAILS Virtual visitors can explore the store and products on offer as well as make purchases. The website, which was launched in February just before the lockdown caused by COVID-19, will be changed at regular intervals throughout the year.
“It’s an excellent idea for brands to service consumers with e-initiatives, making the dream continue in spite of these difficult times,” Leila Rochet Podvin, CEO and Founder of Cosmetics Inspiration and Creation told WWD.
THE WHY? Although the timing of Dior’s launch to coincide with the forced closure of bricks and mortar locations is coincidental, there’s no denying it’s one solution to maintain momentum during the current crisis.
