A US$20 billion joint venture set up between Dow Chemical and Saudi Aramco, Sadara Chemical Co, has kicked off production at its propylene glycol plant.
The Sardara complex is the world’s largest chemical complex to be built in a single phase. This latest milestone moves the project closer to full operation.
“This marks another significant milestone for Sadara, representing the 22nd of our 26 plants to start up. Our teams are continuing to push steadily towards full operations. This plant will provide the building blocks for a range of consumer products, which ultimately will be manufactured in the Kingdom and therefore create new jobs for Saudi citizens,” said Sadara CEO Ziad Al-Labban.
