Specialty chemicals producer Emerald Performance Materials has announced an agreement to sell its Emerald Specialties and Polymer Additives and Nitriles business groups to DyStar LP.

Expected to close in the third quarter of this year, the sale will include five of the company’s nine plants and includes resins and additives for plastics.

These plants include the dedicated plants in Charlotte, NC, Cincinnati, OH, Cheyenne, WY, Henry, IL, and a portion of a shared site in Akron, OH.

Emerald Performance Materials creates specialty chemicals for end products used in the cosmetics industry and for toothpaste.
