Emma Watson lambasted on Twitter for ‘promoting skin lightening’ in Lancôme campaign

Actress Emma Watson has been criticised on social media after a 2013 campaign she appeared in for Lancôme resurfaced on Twitter, according to a report published by The Daily Mail.

Watson fronted the advertisement for the L’Oréal-owned prestige brand’s Blanc Expert Melonolyser, which is said to reduce dark spots. Fans of the feminist actress have since expressed disappointment that she was the face of the product, accusing her of being ‘an advocate of skin lightening’.

Watson’s publicist, Luke Windosr, claimed the actress ‘no longer participates in advertising beauty products, which do not always reflect the diverse beauty of all women’.
