THE WHAT? Estée Lauder Companies has shut down its Bucharest technology hub, laying off 150 employees as part of its Beauty Turnaround restructuring plan.
THE DETAILS The tech centre, opened in April 2023 as ELC’s third global technology campus, has been closed, according to Profit.ro. The move does not affect the company’s larger Bucharest office.
The closure aligns with CEO Stéphane de La Faverie’s restructuring strategy, announced in February 2025, which includes up to 7,000 job cuts; 3,200 roles have already been eliminated globally.
THE WHY? The hub shutdown is part of ELC’s cost-cutting measures following a year of weaker sales.
