Ethical ingredient certification for Natura and Symrise

Both Natura Cosmeticos and Syrmise Amazon have been recognized for their natural ingredients and have been awarded Union for Ethical Biotrade (UEBT) certification.

The certification has been awarded for ingredients that come from the Amazon, with the UEBT awarding the accolade to some 40 ingredients including andiroba, maracujá oil, cupuaçu butter and acai pulp. These ingredients are ethically sourced from 14 supplier communities in the Brazilian Amazon.

Eder Ramos, Global President of Cosmetic Ingredients from Symrise, said, “The UEBT certification is an important step in our strategy to bring the richness of Amazon ingredients to consumers around the world. It shows our commitment to ethical sourcing of biodiversity, as stipulated in the Biodiversity Agenda that Symrise adopted last year.”

Meanwhile Marcelo Alonso, Director of Sustainability at Natura, continued, “We are proud to have gained the UEBT certification for 14 Amazon supplier communities, which further reinforces our commitment to ethical sourcing from this important ecosystem.”
