Firmenich opens new Geneva-based perfumery plant

Perfumery giant Firmenich has officially opened its new plant, based in Geneva, with a ceremony to mark the inauguration of the ‘cutting edge’ facility.

The plant is said to be sophistaticaed in terms of both technology and capacity, and represents more than 25 percent of the company’s fragrance production worldwide. It is also said to cement Geneva’s stance as the leading player in fragrance and flavor production.

Gilbert Ghostine, CEO of Firmenich, said, “With a 90% automation rate, our state-of-the art plant, is one of the most technologically-advanced in the industry.
“Consistent with our pioneering spirit, we created this site to offer our customers a superior experience, from the creation of their fragrances right through to their seamless production, while optimizing our environmental footprint.”

Patrick Firmenich continued, “The investment of more than CHF 60 million is the most significant made by Firmenich in the last ten years.
“With this ambitious industrial project, we are strengthening our center of excellence in Geneva for our long term growth.”
