Firmenich has been awarded a gold rating from EcoVadis for the second year in a row, positioning the flavors and fragrances company among the top 2 percent of all suppliers assessed in terms of sustainability performance.
“I am very proud that Firmenich is amongst the top 2 percent of all suppliers, with an EcoVadis score of 70 percent for our sustainability performance and supply chain transparency,” said Gilbert Ghostine, Firmenich’s CEO. “This recognition and top ranking are another endorsement for our vision to become a carbon neutral company.”
EcoVadis assessed Firmenich’s sustainability measures on 21 corporate social responsibility (CSR) criteria spanning categories such as environment, labor, fair business and sustainable procurement practices. The flavors and fragrances giant received special praise for its efforts in the field of environmental protection, particularly its reduced carbon emissions, energy use and water use.
Firmenich spent CHF8 million on environmental performance improvement projects in 2015, including significant investments in renewable energy and energy reduction programs.
