Japanese cosmetics giant Shiseido has reported a massive 20.2 percent rise in sales for the first quarter of fiscal 2015, ending June 30, 2015. Operating income grew a massive 857.6 percent from JPY1.4 billion in the same period a year ago to JPY13 billion.
Shiseido attributed its impressive performance to modest improvement in the wider Japanese economy, which is driving up consumption, as well as an increase in foreign tourist numbers. Travel retail sales across Asia were also a highlight.
Global sales reflected the wider economy, with Europe’s performance largely flat, while the Americas, Asia and China put in a positive performance.
