German online fashion retailer Zalando is set to expand its beauty offer as well as up its international presence. The Berlin-based e-commerce platform ventured into beauty in March of this year and now lists more than 7,000 SKUs from 150 brands. In July, the company cut the ribbon on its first physical store for its beauty lines.
This month, the retailer will add men’s grooming to the mix, with several new brands joining the platform including House 99 and L’Oreal-owned Clarisonic. Zalando is planning to launch its full beauty selection in the Polish and Austrian markets by the year-end.
“We are happy with the launch of Beauty for women in Germany. With more than 7,000 products from more than 150 premium and lifestyle Beauty brands, we managed to put a strong offer together,” said Claudia Reth, Vice President Category Specialities. “We see that 70 percent of our customers also buy fashion products when shopping Beauty, which confirms our cross-selling strategy by initial data points. This is why it’s the right time to add Beauty for men, and roll out our Beauty offer to Austria and Poland before Christmas.”
