Godrej to acquire remaining 40 percent stake in Chilean Cosmetica Nacional

Godrej Consumer Products will acquire full control of Chilean hair color and cosmetics company Cosmetica Nacional after purchasing the remaining 40 percent stake in the company, according to a report in The Economic Times. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Godrej bought a 60 percent stake in the Cosmetics Nacional in January, 2012 – part of a string of acquisitions in emerging markets.

The Chilean company owns several brands including make-up line Pamela Grant, hair colorants Pamela Grant ultrarepair and Ilicit, hair color, care and styling brand U2, depilatory range Millefiori and men’s hair care range Dermo Capil.

The company’s products are sold throughout South America via a network of distributors, including Corporacion Caest in Costa Rica, Cosmeticos Selectos in Panama, Eckerd Perú in Perú, Osai in Paraguay and Dermolatina Brasil in Brasil.
