Growth in halal tourism to boost sharia-complaint cosmetics market in Dubai

Dubai has been named one of the top-10 Ramadan destinations for Muslim tourists this year, according to the MasterCard and CrescentRating Global Travel Index 2016. The UAE is expected to top the list by 2027.

The city’s popularity with those seeking a halal-friendly holiday is set to drive expansion in the sharia-compliant consumer goods segment across the UAE, according to a report published by Oxford Business Group.

Dubai has identified the cosmetics and pharmaceuticals industry as a key pillar in its 2030 Industrial Strategy, launched earlier this summer, which aims to transform the city into a global production and distribution center for Islamic products.
