Gucci Beauty’s newest face Ellie Goldstein highlights need for better representation of disabilities in the media

THE WHAT? Gucci Beauty has announced model Ellie Goldstein as its newest face, with the star, who has down’s syndrome, stating that it’s time for more models with disabilities to be recognised. 

THE DETAILS British model Goldstein was scouted for the color cosmetics campaign as part of an Instagram project with Vogue Italia, #PhotoVogueFestival initiative, with shoot photographer David PD Hyde also found through the social media search. 

THE WHY? Talking to Vogue about her appointment, Goldstein said, “Representation is very important to me — let the world see that anyone can model and act with a disability.”

Gucci Beauty has historically been a champion of progressive and inclusive campaign imagery, with the appointment of Goldstein highlighting the brand’s desire to better serve an underrepresented group in society.
