Henkel eyes P&G’s top spot following Sun Products Corp acquisition

German personal care giant is said to have its eye on the prize in the US laundry care market following the acquisition of Sun Products Corp.

The purchase is said to have boosted the company’s third-quarter sales giving Henkel the drive to challenge the likes of Procter and Gamble to the top spot in the market, despite bein some way behind.

Speaking on an earning’s call, Chief Executive Officer Hans Van Bylen said earlier this week, “We’re still very far behind the big market leader, but it’s also the case that there are not many more small competitors.”

Indeed, the company is looking to its successful brands to push it forward and bolster its position in a challenging market place.

Van Bylen said, “We expect the overall challenging and uncertain market environment to persist in 2016. We will continue to focus on leveraging our successful brands.”
