THE WHAT? Henkel has issued a voluntary recall notice for a batch of its Joico Blonde Life Lightening Powder hair dye in response to reports of faulty packaging, affecting some 5,979 units.

THE DETAILS The German manufacturer of Schwarzkopf said that there is a potential risk associated with the product’s canister bottom closure coming apart during transport and/or handling and causing spillages.

The products in question were shipped to three distributors located in Hauppauge NY, Largo FL and Bowling Green KY in the US as well as Australia and the European Union. However, the latter two DCs had not yet distributed the products.

THE WHY? Improperly dispensed products can cause health concerns, including eye, nose, skin, throat and lung irritation, Henkel said.
