THE WHAT? Luxury French fashion brand Hermes has announced the closure of nearly all production sites in France until 30th March, measures put into place due to the countrywide-lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, according to a report by AFP.
THE DETAILS Most of the company’s 42 manufacturing facilities will be shut down, with one factory that produces perfume and cosmetics remaining open in order to adapt its production to hand sanitizer gels.
THE WHY? According to a memo, the measures have been put in place to protect staff. Hermes is the latest luxury brand to implement closures, with Kering’s production sites having been shuttered until March 30th.
