Holiday Inn and InterContinental hotels say ‘no’ to plastic miniatures in eco-drive

The owner of InterContinental Hotels Group and Holiday Inn has stated the hotel chains will no longer use miniatures in the bathrooms in a bid to reduce single-use plastic waste that goes into the oceans.

The companies will now switch to bulk-sized bathroom products as part of the effort to cut waste, with the rollout said to be completed by 2021.

According to IHC, its customers are increasingly calling on them to ‘act responsibly’ as awareness of plastic waste production increases.

Keith Barr, CEO, InterContinental Hotels Group, said, “Switching to larger-size amenities across more than 5,600 hotels around the world is a big step in the right direction and will allow us to significantly reduce our waste footprint and environmental impact as we make the change.”
