IFRA releases Green Deal policy recommendations

THE WHAT? The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) has published a set of policy recommendations, called Green Deal, highlighting the fragrance industry’s value and role in supporting the EU’s sustainability transition.

THE DETAILS The report suggests using IFRA’s existing global safe use program and Sustainability Charter as bases for the EU’s proposed Safe and Sustainable by Design framework, taking account of the individual qualities of fragrance materials when defining future rules and acknowledging the industry’s contribution to European health and wellness and its history of product safety.

THE WHY? Launching the report, IFRA’s Chairman, Hans Holger Gliewe, said, “Sustainability is at the heart of our sector’s sustainable growth. As the EU releases its 2022 Strategic foresight, IFRA reaffirms its support for the EU’s overarching strategic objectives – twinning the green and digital transitions and fostering resilience.
