Increasing demand for organic products to drive 4.6 percent annual growth in global shampoo market

An increase in demand for organic and paraben-free products will drive growth in the global shampoo market between 2015 and 2019, according to a new report published by Research and Markets. The market is expected to gain 4.6 percent annually for the forecast period.

The study also revealed that the dry shampoo and professional shampoo categories are expected to deliver high growth.

Consumers are increasingly looking for advanced and innovative products, prompting manufacturers to usher in more technically advanced formulas offering a wide variety of benefits to suit consumer needs and lifestyles, such as scalp care and UV protection.

The market is battling against the onslaught of counterfeit products, which can cause hair loss and scalp sensitivity thanks to low-quality or even dangerous ingredients as well as damage to the reputation of authentic brands.

The market is largely sewn up between beauty giants Henkel, Kao, L’Oréal, P&G and Unilever. Other key players include Avon, Colgate-Palmolive, Toni & Guy, Revlon, Shiseido, J&J and Estée Lauder.
