Indian beauty e-commerce website nykaa.com has experienced soaring sales over the last nine months, registering 323% growth.
Despite having been founded as recently as 2012, Nykaa’s customer base has grown to over 300,000 people all over India who have purchased a total of 1.5 million units from the site’s product range of makeup, skincare, hair care and fragrances.
Nykaa sells over 350 brands and 20,000 products from the likes of Maybelline, Dove, Neutrogena, Schwarzkopf, Organix and Garnier Colour Naturals.
Nykaa’s future plans include expansion of offline stores, development of a private label and an iOS app, all of which form a part of an omni-channel strategy.

Being data driven, a lot of analysis and voting went into the shortlisting and selection process.”
As well as strong sales, the company was recently awarded the prize for The Most Innovative e-commerce company at India’s The eTales Awards 2015, an annual awards ceremony which highlights the country’s best retail and ecommerce companies.
Nayar commented, “The award recognises a unique e-tailing model Nykaa has put in place through a curated catalogue, well-structured website and providing customers with advice through various channels including the chat functionality, Beautybook e-magazine, experts online, YouTube tutorials and the interactive virtual makeover tool. Going forward, Nykaa plans to integrate its online presence with offline stores using CRM tools to provide a one-stop beauty solution to women all across India.”
In 2014, Nykaa opened its first travel retail store at Domestic Departures in Terminal 3 at IGI Airport in Delhi. More stores are due to open in the future, as the company develops its range of physical stores.
